It Wasn’t a Perfectly On Plan Holiday Dinner

but I came very close – a lot closer than I’ve been in a long time.

I knew most of what my sister was going to be serving, so I was able to make a plan ahead of time. Gorging myself on a HUMONGOUS Asian pear about an hour before getting to my sister’s house helped a LOT. Power food, POINTS PLUS-free and very filling. That, and 1/4 cup non-fat cottage cheese did a very good job of making me too full to overeat at dinner.

Dinner consisted of prime rib, white asparagus, stuffed mushrooms and potato latkes. I stuck to one serving of each, and actually finished my asparagus. (I have a bad history with asparagus in the past, so this is definitely a big deal.) I did not, however go for the bonus points and eat the Brussels sprouts. Why ruin a good thing? I indulged in a bit of cheese and some pieces of chocolate, but nowhere near as much as I would have eaten previously. The big indulgence was the chocolate pie. It was totally decadent, and well worth every single one of the POINTS PLUS I ate of it. I even managed to stop myself after one serving.

So, even though I went a little over in terms of my daily POINTS PLUS target, I did so in a planned, managed and controlled manner. Definitely a holiday eating success in my book!
