Up 3lbs This Week

Bleh! So much for getting back to the gym and my snow removal workout this week!

It could’ve been worse, so I’m not too upset by it. I’ve noticed that for the past few months I’ve been hovering within the same 6-8 lb range. I gain it, I lose it, I gain it, I lose it… Not horrible, considering that a) I’ve been in “recovery” mode post-marathon for the past few weeks and b) the weather here in NYC has not been entirely conducive to walking or trekking to the gym lately.

I started to beat myself up last night after my weigh-in about not being further towards my goal weight, but then I realized something that gave me a whole new perspective on it. Yes, I still have about 25-30 lbs to go in order to reach my goal weight, and I’ve been kicking around the same few pounds for several months. However… I have also maintained a weight of under 200 lbs for over a year! This is no small feat! The fact that I’m only fluctuating between 6-8 lbs is not only not a bad deal, it is much, much, much better than any of my previous efforts in the past. It’s downright normal! It means that all of my tracking, self-monitoring, portion control, healthier food shopping and even cooking efforts have become part of my new way of life, and are paying off! GO ME!!!

Now for those last 25-30 lbs… 🙂

  1. Congratulations to you! You have a keen awareness of your successes and it’s so refreshing that you are acknowledging yourself for all your hard work. Maintaining is often harder than losing!

  2. Maintainence is a great thing. Sometimes our bodies need a break from weight loss (sometimes a long break). If you can maintain the loss so far, you are very ahead of the curve!
