Thoughts on the New Momentum Plan So Far

Last night was my weekly weigh-in and meeting. Weigh-in results were up 1.6 lbs, which I expected this week, so not a big deal. It’ll disappear and then some next week.

At the meeting, I finally (after waiting in eager anticipation all week) got my hands on some new Momentum plan materials!!! We received our new Pocket Guide and Week 1 book. I also bought a new 3-Month Journal, because I needed a new one anyway.

The Pocket Guide is rather cool. It’s in a nice, neutral shiny color, and includes space for a weekly tracker and your membership card inside the front cover. Inside the back cover is a POINTS Finder and POINTS Booster. It also replaces the old Weigh-In booklet, by including pages for your weigh-in stickers for 56 weeks’ worth of meetings. It has an A-Z food list, 0 and 1 POINT Snack Ideas and Dining Out Ideas, all in one easy to carry little package. Size-wise, it’s about the same as the 3-Month Journal, but without as many pages.

The Week 1 Book is all about the new plan basics. Some interesting changes, including the focus on eating more Filling Foods and some changes to the Good Health Guidelines. My favorite of which is the new Liquids guideline! Now all liquids are included – coffee, tea, juices, diet soda, seltzer, non-fat milk, etc. Although they still recommend water as the primary liquid, now my 20 oz. coffees will count towards my daily liquids!

The new 3-Month Journal is about the same size as the last one. My only real “down-side” to this is that the spaces to write your food in are really small! On the “up-side”, it includes a space to track your hunger levels during the day, a place to track your whole grain and lean proteins, and… drumroll please… finally a place to check off your daily vitamin!

There are also new starter kits, but I’m not sure I’m going to purchase one. Not because they aren’t worth it, because the deluxe kit with it’s new fancy-schmancy tote is way cool, but because I need to figure out what to do with my old kit first:-)

So far, I’m giving Momentum two thumbs-up!

  2. Got my own stuff last night and went ahead and bought the basic member kit — I figured that the journal and quick fix book was worth the extra $5 (I update my books every year). So far, I like it because I’m already trying to do most of what they recommend anyway! 🙂 And I LOVE the new liquids idea. I now get to count that Diet Coke for lunch!

  3. I think it’s great that your eating more filling foods and eating healthy to achieve weight loss. It does not good to loss weight adn be unhealthy.
